A new course, a new training website and a new assessment

A new course, a new training website and a new assessment

It is such a compliment to be asked to teach for other organisations, especially if that organisation is the Federation of Holistic Therapists. They have very kindly asked me to create a course for them and to deliver it – so I am.
Cancer Awareness Course
I will be teaching a one day cancer awareness course in the Midlands on 23 September 2017. This is a new course and is not offered by our training school. It must be booked via the FHT website. It is a taught version of our pre-course learning with a little bit more added into the mix.
It will be a great introduction to the theoretical parts of our oncology courses. There are no practical therapy skills included in the day. There are some places left but they are selling fast.
Don’t forget that we have fewer open courses at the moment as we have a lot of spa training to deliver. The Hand Nail and Foot Treatments course in London on 16th July is the last one in England for a while – book now if nails are on your wish list.
New Assessment
I have been doing more teaching than usual lately as Katie and I have been training and assessing some tutors from another organisation with whom we are collaborating. They are to offer some industry qualifications.
I have learned a lot. The main learning for me is that because most of the cancer specific theory is delivered before the tutor day the learners often neglect it after theface-to-face day, when they are completing case studies.
As a result I have introduced another assessment – an open book test – to be submitted with the case studies. This assessment will be included on all oncology courses from now on. If you have trained with us in the past and would like a copy of the new assessment booklet, please ask.
Website changes
Drum roll please….we have finally managed to update the design and content of theTraining School website. It is work in progress but we like what we have so far. We have lots of space to tell your stories and promote your good work. Please do get in touch if you would like to be promoted on the site.
So where did the summer go? I sporting the drowned rat look after my walk this morning, 7000 steps in the bag……only 3000 more to go (let's hope the rain stops).
At least I am off for the summer soon – four more weeks and the family Young hit the road to destinations various. This is the final push – expect lots of frantic activity and then……..breathe.
Sending stamina and determination
