Hearts, flowers, chocolates and (oh yes please) lingerie, candlelit dinners, and... sweating it out in primary school worrying that I wouldn’t get ‘enough’ paper Valentines to prove I was liked by the other kids! Oh the pressure! I’ll never forget the excitement and the dread of the cardboard mailbox draped with crepe paper, lace, and bows stuffed full of amazing glittery secret Valentines. How many secret admirers would be revealed?  Hence the tiny sweaty palms.

But we are totally over that...right? Oh I wish! Valentine’s Day still conjures up feelings of fear and disappointment about spending the day alone or sadness at not having found the perfect love relationship for many. Our culture brings a pressure that leaves many people feeling alone, lonely, disappointed or even like a failure on Valentine’s Day.

If you are approaching this Valentine’s Day without that ‘special someone’ in your life, do not abandon the idea of celebrating Love. To truly experience Love you need one thing first...unconditional Love for yourself. Nothing, absolutely nothing, in our external world can replace that. In fact, this is the perfect time to celebrate who you are and all the Love you have within you.

The Law of Love is based on the belief that we are completely filled with Love all the time. Claim your freedom from fear of being alone, lonely, unlovable, unworthy, or rejected. Stop spending time worrying about past disappointments or future emptiness. Such worries leave little room for Love and Joy in your life right now.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day by teaching yourself that you are the essence of Love and treat yourself like you would anyone else that you Love unconditionally. The more you do this every day the more love you will have to share.

Here are a few ways to celebrate the Love you have for yourself this Valentine’s Day:

  • Buy yourself that gorgeous bouquet of roses that you were saving for someone else.
  • Take yourself out. Do something out of the ordinary.
  • Take a few minutes to reflect on all the things you like (dare we say love) about yourself. Then write yourself a Love letter and tuck it away in a safe place to read on those ‘other’ days when you encounter self-doubt.

Love is all there is, so go ahead feel the freedom and celebrate a day of Love and Beauty.

Embrace Life,
