The Secret Of Making Funny Faces: The Face Yoga Method

When a person sees the funny faces I make, usually the first reaction is “What is that?” I love to see this funny reaction! The Face Yoga Method exercises are funny for sure but also have a lot of benefits.

The Face Yoga Method is a blend of yoga-like body postures and facial exercises that improve your appearance and sense of well-being. It is a unique technique to turn back the clock by focusing on your facial movements and expressions and teaches you to exercise your face muscles to create a firmer, more sculpted face line. It also encourages deep breathing. Conscious breathing helps to increase skin thickness by increasing blood flow to the skin. Your expression will change and any stress lines on your face will start to smooth out. The end result is younger, radiant, glowing skin, greater self-confidence and awareness from the inside out.

Hidden Benefits of The Face Yoga Method

Many people already know the benefits of exercise. When you exercise your body, you feel good. More oxygen goes to your body and brain so you are focused and clear but at the same time more relaxed. The same thing applies to the face exercise. You will feel good both physically and mentally. Here are some of the expected mental benefits of the face exercise.

  • More self control: You are the practitioner of the Face Yoga Method. The more disciplined you are and the more you practice the poses, the better the results. You will feel more in control.
  • More self confidence: You do the work and you see the changes. You feel you are in control of your face and as a result you will feel more empowered in other areas of your life.

The Science

The Truth and Science behind the Face Yoga Method

I had a chance to take Before/After photos of the Face Yoga exercises using a thermography camera. The thermal imaging camera made it possible to show the amount of radiation sent out by the face yoga students. After 3 sets of 10 seconds of this pose, we could see the increases in temperature on their faces! See the thermal imaging camera photos here. The warm parts of the face stand out well against cooler parts of the face. Finally I had a scientific approach that proved that the face yoga exercises have physical benefits! It took only 30 seconds to get this change.

Better Circulation = Younger Looking Face

Don’t you feel more alive, happy and positive after a great laugh or talk with your friends? There is a mental aspect of it, of course, but when you laugh hard and talk a lot, you are breathing more air into your body and the oxygen flow gets increased.  The sigh, on the other hand does not really increase your oxygen flow. More oxygen flow means more nutrients in your body and you can see the benefit of it on the skin. The same thing applies to your face. More oxygen flow on your face means more radiant, youthful looking skin. So how you can increase the oxygen flow on your face?

Exercise improves your mood and energy and posture. Exercise tones the body and helps your body to be strong, flexible, and lean. If you do not exercise, your body gets weaker and flabby. Exercise increases the oxygen flow. The same thing applies to your face.

The Big “O”

The Big “O”

Now, it is your turn to try the pose I used to take the thermal imaging photos I have showed you. It increases the blood circulation on your face in 30 seconds!

I call this pose The Big “O” and the point to get the best results is do it without hesitation.

  • Open your mouth, make an “O” shape with your mouth, make your face long, pressing the upper mouth firmly against the teeth.
  • Feel the stretch in the muscles surrounding the mouth and nose.
  • Hold this pose for 10 seconds. Repeat 3 times.
  • You should feel the muscle movement from the corners of the mouth to the corners of the eyes.

No time? No problem!

No time? No problem!

One of the beauties of practicing the Face Yoga Method is its convenience, nonetheless I still hear from students who say “ I just do not have time.” I hear you, I mean it. I travel a lot for my work, I am a wife and I am a mother of a super energetic toddler who I chase around all day long. I barely have enough time and energy to take care of myself, so, how so I find time to practice Face Yoga? How can I look younger than my age? For a long time I was on a quest to find the secret of “having it all”. This Zen quote sums it up for me “the journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” The same can apply to the Face Yoga Method.

How To Fit The Face Yoga Into Your Life: 4 Fast & Easy

Everybody goes to bathroom at least a few times of a day, right? Most of us drive a car everyday. All of us brush our teeth at least once a day. All of us take a shower everyday. If you can say “yes” to these practices, you will have plenty of time to exercise your face throughout the day.

Let me ask you….

Brushing your teeth, taking a shower, driving a car – do you do these activities everyday?

  • Whenever you go to the bathroom, practice the Big “O”. Try to do this pose EVERY TIME you go to the bathroom.
  • When you brush your teeth, try this the Big “O” while keeping the tooth brush on your mouth! It makes it harder to make the face, but the results are great!
  • While you are taking a shower, try the Big “O”.

The Big O is my best friend when I drive. I often need some stimulation to keep myself focused and awake. In the morning when I drive my daughter to her daycare, I do this pose to reduce eye puffiness which I usually get in the morning. It works and it also wakes me up! Make sure you focus on the road while you do the Big “O” face, just beware that other drivers may give you funny looks.

What do you think? The journey of beauty must begin with everyday practice. You can find the time and a little privacy to do those funny looking face exercises without spending extra time or being seen by others.
